Speirs Locks, Glasgow
Devising creative strategies for places is a core feature of our work, a challenge to which we can bring our extensive experience in creating new public infrastructure and producing creative content for big public audiences. To support the development of a large, mixed-use site in Glasgow, we were asked by Architecture + Design Scotland and ISIS Waterside Regeneration to create a programme and business plan to support the development of a new creative community to re-use vacant open space and industrial buildings on site. This programme is now being implemented. One outcome is the Glue Factory, an exciting new venue in the city that hosts exhibitions by the Glasgow School of Art and Glasgow International and is managed by a newly-founded independent Community Interest Company.
